Letters, 1829-1843.

The collection comprises 4 lengthy letters from John Zephaniah Bell to the painter Nathaniel George Philips in Liverpool. Despite his poor health, Philips takes care of the paintings sent by his friend for exhibitions at the Royal Manchester Institution, bargains with prospective buyers, and reminds the Institution to send Bell the monies resulting from the sales. The letters speak about his current work, the paintings sent to Liverpool, their prices and transportation arrangements.
